Sexual assault and rape claims against yoga teacher Bikram Choudhury are investigated with new insight tonight in an episode of Vanity Fair Confidential on Investigation Discovery.
Watch our exclusive clip from the episode below as Sarah Baughn, who accuses him of sexual harassment and of sabotaging her career, recalls her alleged experiences at the hands of the Bikram Yoga founder.
Vanity Fair writer Benjamin Wallace and one of her lawyers, Carney Shegerian, reveal how she was invited to Choudhury’s home by his wife Rajashree, and said she felt she would have a “zone of protection” around her while there because other people would be present.
But after being left alone with Choudhury, Sarah claims he began groping her.
She says: “After everyone had left, I was sitting on the couch with him. We were watching an Indian movie, and I thought ‘this is really nice’.
“Then Bikram put his hand on my leg, and I moved his hand off my leg. And I just kind of looked at him, like ‘Really? This again?’.
“Very soon he was on top of me. He had one hand going up my leg, and the other hand was wrapping around me and touching the side of my breast. And he kind of just started breathing on me and telling me that he needed to have sex with me.”
Sarah, who used to compete in yoga competitions, added: “I told him ‘no’, that I would never do that. I pushed him off of me, I stood up, and Bikram told me there was no way that I would win the upcoming national or international competition without doing that with him. I said ‘yes I will’. He said, ‘you won’t’. And I left”
Sarah is one of a string of women to have accused Choudhury of charges ranging from sexual harassment to rape. He denies any wrongdoing.
