On The Young and the Restless Lily (Christel Khalil) is in prison for the death of Hilary (Mishael Morgan), leaving fans to wonder, is she leaving the show?

The answer is a resounding yes, maybe! That’s because many fans tie her absence to former EP Mal Young’s influence. Young is no longer with Y&R, which could portend the fan fave’s return. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Lily was sent to prison because she was driving a car that was hit by a big truck, and ultimately Hilary died as a result. Lily was distracted since she was yelling up a storm at her frenemy beside her. It really did seem like an accident, except that she hated Hilary who was involved with her brother Devon (Bryton James).

A devastated Devon retaliated against Lily and was instrumental in sending her to prison. Initially Lily was close enough to visit regularly, and fans saw her on screen here and there. But she’s since been transferred far away.

Her husband Cane (Daniel Goddard) is now tempted by Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and this week he got a Dear John letter in the mail from Lily. If fans thought that there was hope Lily would return, it was diminished by the contents of her letter.

In it Lily tells Cane that she’s having a hard time with their phone calls and her prison life is becoming her new normal.

Sadly, she relates that she may be losing who she was, and may never return. Ouch. She thanks him for being a great dad and husband and sends her love. Now what?

Before he can process this devastating news his kids tell him they want to go to J.T.’s memorial service as a family. Only problem is, Victoria will be there. They’ve sworn to not go any farther than their illicit kiss, but how likely is that now given the circumstances?

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays during the day on CBS.
