Eileen Davidson decided to leave The Young and the Restless earlier this year. While her final taping happened back in September, today is the day that fans will say goodbye to Ashley Abbott as she leaves Genoa City to embark on her own adventure.

Even though The Young and the Restless fans will miss Eileen, she felt it was just her time to go.

When her contract came up for renewal, she decided to exit the show. The actress said she wanted to spend more time with her family, something that she has struggled with in years past.

The Young and the Restless wasn’t the only casualty, though, as Eileen also decided not to return to Days of our Lives or The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Eileen had held the role of Ashley Abbott on and off since 1982, making her a longterm fixture on the show for the dedicated viewers who tuned in each day. Her storylines took her all over the place and when the scriptwriters wrote for her, they kept it interesting.

On the show, Ashley Abbott will exit Genoa City with no decisive ending. Instead, her character will head to Paris to start her own cosmetics company and start a brand new life.

Eileen Davidson definitely has the option to return if the show wants her and if she ever feels like she has time to dedicate back to The Young and the Restless.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS and weeknights on PopTv.
