If Young and the Restless fans were alarmed by chemist Kerry’s (Alice Hunter) erratic behavior before, they’ve got to be in panic mode after she followed Jack up the Abbott staircase with a huge syringe filled with lord-knows-what!

Kerry has been a mystery ever since her arrival as the new Jabot chemist, replacing Ashley (Eileen Davidson). She’s got to have solid credentials otherwise Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) would not have hired her. But what is she really up to?!

She seems to be into Jack (Peter Bergman) but how far? So far their trysts have been interrupted by her crazy disappearances or lame excuses of some sort.

But this week she ramped up the crazy factor when she grabbed a syringe big enough to dope a horse into oblivion and followed Jack to his bedroom.

Just before this she made him close his eyes and then waved a new “fragrance” under his nostrils. She named the scent, Jack of Hearts after him! Is this spooky or sweet?

Once again she tries to sneak out when he’s no looking but he catches her and she says something about not wanting to bother Dina of all people! He convinces her to stay for some extracurricular activity, but she tells him to go upstairs first, then she’ll be along. Ever the gentleman, Jack agrees.

Bad move Jack! That’s when Crazy Chemist Kerry reveals a hidden syringe in her purse, and then takes a look at the staircase Jack has ascended.

What is all this subterfuge about? Fan speculation is running wild with all sorts of scandalous theories, from Kerry planning to brainwash Jack, to experimenting new drugs on Dina, to a possible transgender storyline in the making.

What is clear is that her next move is key in revealing just who she is and what she’s really after. But will Jack survive long enough to find out?

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays during the day on CBS.
