The Young and the Restless fans may need to get the tissues handy because today, Monday, October 29, is legendary veteran Eileen Davidson’s last official air date on the CBS sudser.
Davidson has portrayed Ashley Abbott on the number one rated daytime drama for decades, sometimes appearing on NBC soap Days of our Lives concurrently.
Over the last few weeks, the soap vet has chronicled her last days and goodbyes on social media but still, it’s hard to believe that her final adieu has arrived.
Monday is full of must-see emotional scenes as Davidson and her alter ego leave Genoa City in the rear view mirror.
After the family rejects her request to be made CEO of Jabot, she informs them that while she has no ill will, she is taking her patents and leaving town. Liar, liar, pants on fire!
Billy (Jason Thompson) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) try to persuade her to stay, but it’s too late. The vixen informs them that she’s got a ticket to Paris, and she is starting a cosmetics company of her own!
And guess what she’s going to call it? My Beauty, the nickname her dad gave her all those years ago. You go, girl! And with that barbed sling, the siblings get to verbal sparring again, over who was dad’s favorite.
There’s another flashback to their childhood where young Jack and Ashley are going at it just as if it were the present day.
Ashley asks Abby (Melissa Ordway) if she wants to come with, but the blond beauty declines. Likewise, Billy rebuffs her peace offering. Sweet Traci (Beth Maitland) does wish her sister well, and mom Dina (Marla Adams) appears for a farewell. But things don’t go as well with Jack (Peter Bergman).
There is no hug, no tears, just stone cold stares. Later, Traci cries and wonders how things got to this point. Maybe she can write a best-selling book about it?
In the coming days, Jack acts desperately to save the family and Jabot. To what depths does he sink? Tune in and find out!
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS and weeknights on PopTv.
