Scott Madaus, a 42-year-old reporter with Fox 13 in Memphis, was arrested Saturday night and charged with domestic assault.
According to WREG Memphis Channel 3 News, Madaus and the alleged victim got into a fight at his Midtown home after he had a few glasses of wine, something that reportedly upset the victim as Scott had been sober for 20 days.
The victim said Madaus “drinks often and has anger issues,” according to police. She reportedly told Madaus that she was leaving the home to stay with a friend, before locking herself in a room.
He allegedly then stood in front of the door, and when she asked what he was doing she reportedly heard the slide of a handgun.
According to an affidavit, Madaus then reportedly began punching and kicking the door, before allegedly pushed the victim and vandalizing the room once he got inside.
When police entered the home, the victim allegedly had a scratch on her neck and Madaus reportedly yelled at officers to leave, saying they were not allowed to be in his home.
After his arrest, Madaus posted bond and was expected to appear in court today.
Memphis Fox 13 released a story about the incident on the Fox 13 website, saying that news was “hitting close to home”. The network acknowledged that Madaus had been arrested and charged with domestic assault and shared that they had obtained a police report about the incident.
The bio for Madaus on the Fox 13 Memphis website reveals that he is an award-winning investigative journalist with an Emmy nomination to his name.
He’s also done hundreds of consumer investigations throughout the years, which have led to some major State Senate and House bills.
Before joining Fox 13 Memphis, Scott worked in Nashville, Little Rock, and Fort Myers. He is from Detroit, which is also where he started his career.
