Laura Jallali was one of the more interesting characters featured on the first season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. Laura, 51, and Aladin, 29, were engaged to be married, and Laura planned to live in Qatar with Aladin.

Aladin is originally from Tunisia, and the two clashed over their cultural differences.

Laura was more open about sex and publicly discussed her disappointment with Aladin in the bedroom. Aladin was more conservative and took Laura’s discussion as an insult.

Beyond their cultural differences, the couple had to deal with the disapproval of Laura’s 21-year-old son Liam. Liam was suspicious of the relationship, and he ended up being right.

The marriage ultimately failed, and the break up got nasty. Laura accused Aladin of being gay and using her for money. Aladin claimed Laura catfished him and humiliated him for fame.

Laura’s been in Ecuador for some time

While Laura is originally Canadian, she spent most of her adult life (and raised her son) in Florida. She’s spent the past several months in Ecuador, and now it seems she may be stuck there.

Three weeks ago, she celebrated carnival in the country and documented the experience on YouTube. She’s apparently in Playas, a coastal city in the Southeast of the country.

Now, due to coronavirus, it seems she won’t be coming home any time soon.

Laura took to Instagram to show what it’s like in the country. It’s pretty normal, and the store even has toilet paper.

Laura noted that there wasn’t much meat available, but that doesn’t matter to her since she’s a vegetarian. The supermarket was very crowded — it seems Ecuadorians aren’t into socially isolating.

Ecuador is fairly safe from the virus

So far, there have only been 199 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ecuador, contrasted with some 11,000 in the US and over 41,000 in Italy.

However, like much of the rest of the world, it’s expected the number of cases in Ecuador will rise quickly in the coming weeks.

The government has taken action to try to slow the spread of the disease, closing its borders to all foreign travelers last Saturday.

In general, Latin America hasn’t been as hard hit as Europe, Asia, and North America. Brazil has several hundred confirmed cases, but in a country of over 200 million people, a few hundred cases is a rather low number.

Hopefully, Laura will remain safe and take precautions throughout the COVID-19 scare.

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days airs on Sundays at 8/7c on TLC.
