
This week True Conviction examines the murder of Stephanie Dzikowski, who was shot dead in front of her young child.
July 2015 in Philadelphia and 22-year-old mother Stephanie was found dead in her house by her fiancé, she’d been shot. What shocked investigators was that Stephanie was shot execution style in front of her two-year-old daughter, who remained unharmed. Her fiancé had just stepped out to the shops and was first on the scene when the shot was heard and
Neigbors told police that they heard a single shot and even tried to pursue the suspected killer, though he managed to evade them. CCTV footage showed a man running from the scene but the case soon went cold, until more CCTV was aired on a crime show. The clip showed a man wearing a distinctive backpack walking down the street and multiple people identified the same man, from his backpack, build and the way he walked.
28-year-old homeless man James Jones was charged with murder and robbery.
