This week Bride Killa sheds light on the case of Amber Smith and Trenton Mallory, an young couple who never made it up the aisle after one of them turned murderous.
Levering, Michigan on March 6, 2014, and 28-year-old Smith called the police to report that her house had been broken into. When Sheriff deputies arrived they found her fiancé Mallory dead in the bedroom, he’d been killed by a single shot to the head from a .22 caliber rifle.
The police investigation could find no evidence of anyone else having been in the house and further digging turned up the fact that the couple were having a lot of financial problems. These stemmed from Smith’s gambling issues and 36-year-old Mallory’s car had been repossessed and even their mortgage was about to be foreclosed.
It was also found that Smith owned the murder weapon before the killing and it was later found buried in snow near her sister’s house.
Smith was charged with murder and at the trial it was suggested by the prosecution that Smith shot sleeping Mallory dead. The jury agreed and Smith was given a life sentence with no possibility of parole.
A 2016 appeal was rejected with the court finding that there was plenty of evidence of premeditation.
Bride Killa airs on Fridays at 10:00 PM on Investigation Discovery.
