Kidnap and murder of real estate agent Beverly Carter traced on Web of Lies

Tonight’s episode of Web of Lies on Investigation Discovery traces the mysterious disappearance, kidnapping and murder of Arkansas real estate agent Beverly Carter, which sparked a viral search that led to false identities and fake clues.

The episode, called Final Sale, explores what happened to 50-year-old Beverly after she met with a prospective buyer at a remote house. The buyer, Arron Lewis, suffocated and killed Carter during a home showing in September 2014.

Prosecutors in the Little Rock trial said Lewis — along with his estranged wife — lured Carter to the property by arranging the fake house showing then demanded a ransom after kidnapping her.

But the ransom plot went wrong, and Carter was killed. Her body was found in a shallow grave at a concrete plant where Lewis was previously employed.

Attorneys for Lewis argued the real estate agent died accidentally in a consensual sex act. Pulaski County Deputy Prosecutor Barbara Mariani replied in her closing arguments that Lewis’ attorneys hadn’t proven a reasonable doubt in the case.

Lewis is now serving a life sentence without parole after being convicted in January 2016 of kidnapping and capital murder.

Final Sale will feature interviews with Carter’s husband Carl Carter, son Carl Carter Jr., daughter-in-law Kim Carter and friend Brenda Rhoads, as well as Detective Jeff Allison of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas and a witness named Adam Nash.
