The Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) continues to air strong K-dramas as viewers enjoy the lineup for the current season (Winter-to-Spring season).

Presently, the network is airing Hyena, an intense legal K-drama starring Kim Hye-Soo and Ju Ji-Hoon.

Since its premiere, Hyena continues to earn consistent viewership, as recorded by the AGB Nielsen Korea, averaging around 11 percent for each episode.

With the upcoming mid-series point, SBS hopes to at least see an increase in viewership, especially with Jung Geum-Ja (Kim Hye-Soo) joining Song & Kim, the law firm where her lover/rival Yoon Hee-Jae (Ju Ji-Hoon) works.

Things are about to get more interesting now that the bittersweet love and hate relationship between Jung Geum-Ja and Yoon Hee-Jae is working under the same roof.

But since the premiere of Hyena, there has been an alliterated scene of Geum-Ja standing on the sidewalk of a street looking up at Song & Kim Law Firm’s building.

This begs to ask the question, why is Jung Geum-Ja “obsessed” with Song & Kim Law Firm?

Presently, Hyena hasn’t aired any substantial evidence pointing to any real reason why Jung Geum-Ja seems to be “obsessed” with Song & Kim Law Firm.

However, from past K-dramas, there are two discernable reasons for Geum-Ja’s “obsession.

Was Jung Geum-Ja wronged by Song & Kim Law Firm in the past?

One of the plot points used in certain K-dramas in the past is having someone infiltrate a firm, company, or family to either take over or destroy it from within because of something that happened in their past with said firm, company, or family.

That is one of the plot points used in the currently-airing K-drama on the Total Variety Network (tvN), Itaewon Class.

Could something have happened in the past between Jung Geum-Ja and Song & Kim Law Firm? Is there something that gives credence to why Geum-Ja is so “greedy” and willing to do anything and everything for a huge paycheck.

She might be needing money in association with what might have happened to her and Song & Kim Law Firm in the past.

Some possible past scenarios include Song & Kim Law Firm not taking up her family or friend’s case or the law firm opposing her family or friend and being relentless in being the opposition.

Is Jung Geum-Ja an “illegitimate heir” to Song & Kim Law Firm?

Speaking of family, another possible reason why Jung Geum-Ja is “obsessed” with Song & Kim Law Firm is that she might be the illegitimate child of either Song Pil-Joong (Lee Kyoung-Young) or Kim Min-Joo (Kim Ho-Jung).

Jung Geum-Ja was possibly “admiring her parent” from afar and wanted to continue their legacy.

If there is anyone who could be the “father” to Jung Geum-Ja at Song & Kim, it is most likely going to be Song Pil-Joong.

For starters, he admires how relentless Geum-Ja is, concerning her cases. Pil-Joong might also admire Geum-Ja’s methods and personality as it seems through foreshadowing that he would do the same thing too.

Right now, we can only speculate on the possibilities, but there is something hidden concerning Jung Geum-Ja and the Song & Kim Law Firm.

To be fair, it could end up just being the fact that Geum-Ja loves money, and Song & Kim Law Firm is the “ultimate prize” of a company to work.

Hyena will air subsequent episodes on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. KST, up to a planned 16 episodes on SBS.

For international viewers, episodes will be available one hour after the original airdate and time on Netflix.

Take note that viewers will need a paid subscription to the video streaming service to watch this K-drama.
