On tonight’s Skin Tight, classic tales of redemption and renewal are told from two people’s points of view.
Up first in our exclusive preview is formerly obese father of two, Roger, who went from being a hardcore biker on the lam to a redeemed model citizen who served his time and took charge of his health.
The turnaround happened with a phone call informing Roger that he was going to be a father.
This was the news that put him on a journey of redemption and resolve to shed the weight that had plagued him his entire life.
Prior to this, the only job suitable for someone his size was working as a club bouncer. Making things worse, Roger then fell in with a rough biker crowd, who he started riding with.
He was also taking cocaine before being caught for possession and arrested, but he fled to California to escape doing any time.
That one phone call made him realize he had to set things right. He turned himself in.
After serving a three-year stint in prison for cocaine possession, Roger then explored weight-loss options. He elected to go with a gastric sleeve which helped him shed the weight.
But over 300-lb lost has left Roger with unsightly hanging skin. Now a proud father of two, Roger wants to feel better about himself and to be active with his children.
Also tonight we meet Sarah, whose rural childhood was shattered by drug addiction which tore her family apart.
The trauma allowed her to become obese and we learn the subsequent journey she made to a healthy weight.
Sarah met a Marine with PTSD. They fell in love and then she opted for gastric bypass surgery.
The good news was that the weight came off quickly, but the bad news was her souvenirs of her old heavy self — the excess skin she was left to deal with on a daily basis.
Now Sarah wants to get rid of the skin and be done with the old life as she embarks on her new career as a trauma counselor.
Skin Tight airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on TLC.
