The night after WWE Monday in the Bank, Monday Night Raw featured the fallout for that big pay-per-view event. It also included one of the best opening segments in ages as well as a surprising title change on the show.
Here is a look at the WWE Monday Night Raw results, grades and breakdown of what happened on the big show.
Ronda Rousey suspended
This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with Kurt Angle in the ring with the WWE women’s title and a ceremony to honor the new champion, Alexa Bliss. While Bill was talking about her big Money in the Bank cash-in from the night before, Ronda Rousey showed up.
Rousey was mad that Alexa Bliss interfered in her match and beat her down with the briefcase on Sunday night. Bliss responded by dressing down Rousey and calling her an “overhyped rookie.” Rousey then snapped and destroyed Bliss with the briefcase.
When Kurt Angle tried to pull her off, she attacked him as well and yelled that he was supposed to be her friend while beating him down with the briefcase. She then powerbombed Bliss through a table and took out a few officials as well.
Angle then suspended Rousey for 30 days for the attack. It was a huge opening segment and completely energized the crowd.
Dolph Ziggler wins the WWE Intercontinental title
The first match on the card was an Intercontinental championship match. Seth Rollins barely got past Elias last night and left the match with an injured leg. He still came out and issued an open challenge to anyone in the back.
Dolph Ziggler came out. Then, Drew McIntyre came out next. It was Ziggler who accepted the challenge. After a pretty good 18-minute match, Ziggler pinned Rollins with McIntyre distracted him and he became a six-time IC champion.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler by pin (3.5 Stars)
Bobby Roode vs. Curt Hawkins
Curt Hawkins came into the match with a record of 0-203 since returning to the WWE. Roode won in 43 seconds.
Winner: Bobby Roode by pin (1 Star)
The Monster in the Bank
Braun Strowman came out next to acknowledge the fact he won the Money in the Bank contract last night for the men. He then said that he will take Brock Lesnar’s title the next time that he shows his face in the WWE.
A very injured Kevin Owens (from last night) then came out and tried to make up with Strowman and offered to watch his back. Strowman responded by trying to powerslam Owens, but KO escaped.
The Deleter of Worlds vs. Heath Slater and Rhyno
Before the match, the B-Team (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel) cut a video promo imitating Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt. This was even funnier since Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt are real-life brothers and Dallas looked just like Bray when he wore the big fake beard.
The Deleter of Worlds won the match in three minutes when Wyatt pinned Slater.
Winners: Deleter of Worlds by pin (1 Star)
Jinder Mahal vs. Chad Gable
Jinder Mahal won a quick match over Chad Gable to pick up the momentum he lost in his match last night against Roman Reigns. Gable looked great in the loss, as usual.
Winner: Jinder Mahal by pin (1 Star)
Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan
This match existed to finally shatter the friendship of Bayley and Sasha Banks. Bayley wants revenge against the Riott Squad while Banks is still sad after losing Money in the Bank the night before. The match ended when Morgan pinned Bayley.
The entire match, Bayley and Banks were not willing to work together. After the match, Banks shoved down Bayley and left. Bayley followed her to the back and said she was not finished and then they started fighting, using foreign objects and just destroying each other. Finally, Banks said their friendship is over with and got in her car and left.
Winners: Riott Squad by pin (2 Stars)
Lashley and Roman Reigns vs. The Revival
Kurt Angle came to the ring with Constable Corbin to announce that there would be a multi-man match at Extreme Rules and the winner would get the next title shot against Brock Lesnar. Roman Reigns came out and demanded the title shot.
Lashley then came out and mocked Roman for always losing to Lesnar and then said he has been trying to get his hands on Lesnar for years and can beat him. Kurt Angle said that both of them will be in the multi-man match at Extreme Rules.
That brought out The Revival to say they are still fighting for opportunities and will be happy to prove themselves tonight. Roman and Lashley teamed up, Lashley stole the pin after Roman hit his Superman punch, and The Revival continues to lose.
Winners: Lashley and Roman Reigns by pin (2 Stars)
Mojo Rawley vs. No Way Jose
No Way Jose has his entrance and that is about all. Mojo Rawley has a new attitude but still seems stale.
Winner: Mojo Rawley by pin (1 Star)
Finn Balor and Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens and Constable Corbin
This match was set up backstage when Finn Balor asked to be put in the Extreme Rules multi-man match. Corbin mocks him and Kevin Owens shows up to mock him as well. Then Braun Strowman showed up, called Balor his buddy” and said he was there to help him. That led to this match.
Kevin Owens was great, wrestling hurt and showing it. The match was good and Corbin got the win over Balor, which was an interesting move. It makes it look like Corbin might be angling his way into that multi-man match as well.
Winners: Constable Corbin and Kevin Owens by pin (3 Stars)
