In some huge and surprising news, the WWE announced on Tuesday that they have come to terms with Big Cass for his release.
This is extremely shocking as Big Cass wrestled on Sunday at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event. Cass wrestled Daniel Bryan and lost in the opening match on the card.
After the match, Daniel Bryan had an exclusive backstage interview and he said he was impressed with Big Cass. However, Bryan also said that winning matches like this involves “legs, lungs and heart” and that is what led to his win.
Bryan said that Big Cass has been training hard and working at the WWE Performance Center every day. He said that Big Cass is working hard to get better and that he was excited to see him improving.
That statement seems strange now since the WWE immediately released Big Cass two days later.
However, the news is breaking and no one knows why the WWE released Big Cass.
Cass, who real name is William Morrissey, is 30 years old and stands seven-feet tall. He seemed like the perfect example of what Vince McMahon likes in his wrestling superstars but he has not been putting on great matches lately and doesn’t seem to be improving.
Big Cass was at his best when he was part of a tag team with Enzo Amore. The two were extremely popular, and while they were not great in the ring, they had enough fans to remain visible on Monday Night Raw.
However, Big Cass and Enzo Amore split up with Cass turning heel. Right after their split, Cass suffered a torn ACL. When he finally returned to action, the WWE had released Enzo after a sexual assault allegation resulted in a criminal investigation.
Big Cass moved into a feud with Daniel Bryan upon his return to SmackDown Live but that will be the only feud he was able to take place in, following his WWE release.
During his time in the WWE, Big Cass was also involved in a romantic relationship with current SmackDown Live women’s champion Carmella, but the two ended their relationship while Cass was out injured.
