In a shocking moment tonight on WWE Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns came out to the ring and made a terrible announcement.

After the fans booed him like they always do, Roman Reigns then dropped the bombshell. He told the fans his name is Joe and he has been living with leukemia for 11 years.

Roman then said that he had to give up his WWE Universal Championship because he has to go home and fight this.

Roman Reigns, real name Joe Anoaʻi, said that he has battled leukemia for years and it has now just returned. At that moment, the fans stopped playing along with booing him and thanked him in chants.

Reigns, 33, has a wife and three children and he said that he is going home to be with his family and fight his disease. He did say he is not retiring and he will be back one day soon to wrestle again.

The fans then started chanting “thank you Roman” as he stood in the ring. He waved to the crowd one last time and then laid down his title, turned and left to a standing ovation.

As he reached the top of the ramp, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose came out and hugged him, Rollins openly crying as well. The three men gave the Shield fist salute one last time as the fans cheered on.

It was a moment where the fans showed that their boos of Roman Reigns were always just them playing along with the character. Once things turned real, they showed how much they really loved and respected him as a character.
