Many fans wondered why Braun Strowman didn’t win the WWE Universal Championship at WWE Crown Jewel, but it turns out that injuries might explain this reasoning.
When Roman Reigns announced that his leukemia had returned and he had to leave the WWE to battle cancer once again, it looked like Braun Strowman would finally get a chance to lead the way on Monday Night Raw.
It didn’t happen and part-time star Brock Lesnar won the title again. The reason might be because Braun Strowman is injured.
Braun Strowman injury
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Braun Strowman is suffering from major knee problems right now.
The word is that Braun’s knees “are shot.”
The two also pointed out how much trouble Braun Strowman had when he was chasing Baron Corbin on Monday Night Raw last night. It might be better to have a part-time champion than one that might have to take a lot of time off in the near future.
The extent of the injury is unknown but Braun Strowman weighs 385 pounds and stands 6’8″. That is a lot of weight to put on a pair of knees and anyone who watched Andre the Giant at the end of his career knows how slowly a big man moves when they reach a certain age.
What does Strowman’s injury mean for the WWE?
This is terrible news for the WWE right now.
Roman Reigns is out indefinitely due to his cancer battle. Kevin Owens is out of action as well due to injuries. If Braun Strowman is forced to miss time, that is another main event talent that will be missing from Monday Night Raw.
Last night on Raw, the WWE worked to elevate Drew McIntyre, as it seems like they are ready to test him out in the main event scene.
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are also both ready to start their feud and the WWE Universal title seems a better target for both men than the Intercontinental title.
While Brock Lesnar is holding the Universal title right now, the WWE will have to find a new champion when he returns to the UFC. The problem is that they are running out of main event superstars.
