The WWE held their annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view on June 17 and had some huge matches and a significant title change. Here is a look at the WWE Money in the Bank recap, results, winners and grades for all the matches on the show.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Bludgen Brothers vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

This was the WWE Money in the Bank pre-show match. The Bludgen Brothers have destroyed everyone they have faced, and the team of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are nowhere near the level of The Usos or New Day.

That made the result this match no surprise, but there was a surprise in the fact that it lasted seven minutes and was competitive. With that said, the Bludgen Brothers continued to look unbeatable in the win.

Winners: The Bludgen Brothers by pin (2 Stars)

Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass

Daniel Bryan lost out on his chance to be in the men’s Money in the Bank match later tonight because of Big Cass. This is a rematch from the last pay-per-view, where Bryan beat Cass. The match was too long (over 15 minutes), but Bryan won, as he should have, and should move on now to another feud (probably against The Miz)

Winner: Daniel Bryan by submission (2 Stars)

Sami Zayn vs. Bobby Lashley

Sami Zayn is a fantastic wrestler, and Bobby Lashley is a beast, but both men have looked like goofs in this feud. The match was what it needed to be, with Zayn playing the chicken-heel and Lashley just grinding it out and beating him. The match, like the feud, did nothing for either man.

Winner: Bobby Lashley by pin (1 Star)

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Seth Rollins vs. Elias

Seth Rollins always puts on great matches. Elias is someone the fans have gotten behind and has proven that he is solid in the ring as well. This was a chance for Elias to show that he belongs in the upper mid-card and deserves a possible title run in the future.

Elias proved that big time. He looked fantastic in this match and worked well with Rollins. The match went 17 minutes but the time flew by because the two men told a great story and Elias really looked like he could win.

Rollins finally ended up winning in a gutsy manner, and Elias proved that he belongs in the title picture. This was a great match.

Winner: Seth Rollins by pin (4 Stars)

WWE Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

For both of the WWE Money in the Bank ladder matches, there are four wrestlers from Raw and four from SmackDown. Representing Raw tonight is Alexa Bliss, Natalya, Sasha Banks and Ember Moon. Representing SmackDown is Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi and Lana.

This was the second ever Money in the Bank ladder match involving women and this one blew away last year’s. Everyone (even Lana) was really good in this match, and numerous wrestlers looked like they could win, with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair coming closest.

However, in a surprise, Alexa Bliss won the match and the briefcase with the future title shot in it. This was the right move, as the crowd loved her win and it paid off later in the night.

Winner: Alexa Bliss by retrieving contract (4 Stars)

Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal

This is a way for the WWE to keep Roman Reigns out of the title picture while still giving him a feud, but the crowd continues to give him a hard time anyway. Jinder Mahal comes to the ring with Singh in a wheelchair, selling the beating Roman gave him last week.

The match was like most Roman Reigns matches, with Jinder getting an advantage but Reigns always fighting back. Singh proved that his injury was fake and attacked to help Jinder, but Roman won anyway in a match that went too long, at 15 minutes.

Winner: Roman Reigns by pin (2 Stars)

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship: Carmella vs. Asuka

The story here is that Carmella is the confident champion that everyone knows has no chance to beat Asuka. With that said, the match lasted over 10 minutes, and Carmella got a lot of offense and actually looked pretty good.

WWE rumors indicated that James Ellsworth was coming back to the WWE and would help Carmella win, and that is what happened when he showed up wearing an Asuka mask and cape and freaked her out. This allowed Carmella to hit a sucker kick for the win.

There is no word on whether Ellsworth is back for good, but it was a way for Carmella to win. It just didn’t play out right, as Asuka’s reaction was bizarre and out of character.

Winner: Carmella by pin (2 Stars)

WWE World Championship: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura fought at WrestleMania this year in a dream match that did not live up to its potential. Styles won, and Nakamura turned bad. They have fought since, but neither man has proved dominant.

This match was a Last Man Standing match, and it was the best match the two have had in the WWE. It lasted for over 30 minutes, and they tore things up. This was brutal, and both men gave it all, and if this is the end of their feud, they went out on a high note.

AJ Styles had to get dirty and ended up beating the hell out of Shinsuke on the floor before kicking him in the crotch and then hitting the flying forearm from the top rope to the outside of the ring and through a table to keep him down for the count.

Winner: AJ Styles by 10-count (4 Stars)

WWE Raw Women’s Championship: Nia Jax vs. Ronda Rousey

This was a strange match from the start. Ronda Rousey had only wrestled one match in her WWE career, and it was a tag team match at WrestleMania this year. This was her first ever singles match, and it was for the women’s title.

If Rousey won, she would have a title she was not ready to carry yet. If Rousey lost, it would severely hurt the start of her professional wrestling career. The WWE had a great plan.

Rousey and Jax wrestled for 10 minutes, and it was clear that Ronda was not ready as she was gassed and blown up in the match. After fighting in the UFC in two-minute rounds, Rousey is not up to the level of pro wrestlers when it comes to endurance. There is no way she is ready for a title run.

However, the WWE had Alexa Bliss come in with her Money in the Bank briefcase and smash it over the back of Rousey. She then beat the hell out of Rousey and tossed her over the announcer’s table. Bliss returned, cashed in her briefcase and beat Nia Jax for the title.

Winner: Ronda Rousey by DQ (2 Stars)

Winner: Alexa Bliss by pin (No Rating)

WWE Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

The show’s main event is the WWE Money in the Bank Ladder Match. For Raw, the competitors are Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens, Bobby Roode and Finn Balor. For SmackDown, it is Rusev, The Miz, Samoa Joe and one member of New Day, which ended up being Kofi Kingston.

The match started with everyone ganging up on Braun Strowman and burying him under a stack of ladders.

The match also had all the high spots that fans have come to expect from Money in the Bank matches. The biggest one was likely Braun Strowman throwing Kevin Owens off a giant ladder by the stage and through some tables.

There was no telling who would win, either, keeping this match a nice thrilling adventure. It ended up being Braun Strowman who won, and while he was the odds-on favorite, it was still a surprise, and now it looks like Braun might be ready to finally go after Brock Lesnar.

Winner: Braun Strowman by retrieving the contract (4 Stars)
