CM Punk was rumored to be returning to WWE in a role on the FS1 series WWE Backstage.
While the show premiered last week and saw Booker T, Renee Young, Christian, and Paige, there was no CM Punk anywhere to be seen.
Tonight on the second episode of WWE Backstage, Booker T, Renee Young, Paige, and Mick Foley were on the show, and Booker T told some great stories about Mick Foley’s younger career.
They even welcomed Adam Cole and Samoa Joe to the episode where Cole explained how the invasion of SmackDown happened at the last minute (he had one hour to get to the arena when they called him).
However, the show ended with a shocking move. Watch it in the video below:

Yes, CM Punk made his first appearance on WWE television in years when he walked in at the end of the WWE Backstage episode and made his huge announcement.
Renee Young, Samoa Joe, Booker T, Adam Cole, and Paige were signing off for the night and Young said that WWE loves to have historic making moments and it was time for WWE Backstage to have one of those moments.
Renee Young then counted down 3-2-1 and Living Colour’s Cult of Personality started playing. Paige asked if it was a rib and then CM Punk walked in.
Punk walked to the ring and stepped in and delivered a classic Rowdy Roddy Piper line with one twist: “It’s as simple as this, just when they think they got the answers, I change the culture. I’ll see you here next week.”
From the look on Adam Cole and Paige’s face, it seems like Booker T and Renee Young were the only two who knew this was coming and it came off like a huge moment.
WWE Backstage aired on Tuesday nights on FS1 at 11/10c.
