The Brogue Kick will soon be leveling opponents in the ring again! On Friday’s WWE SmackDown, fans saw a familiar face make his way back on the scene. The Celtic Warrior Sheamus returned after several months out of the picture. It brought plenty of excitement, not just because he made his return, but because of the way in which he arrived, as he has ditched the look he famously used as part of The Bar.
Sheamus returns with his original look, new promo
During Friday Night SmackDown, Sheamus popped up in a promotion announcing that he’s coming back. During the promo, he was shown in the dark delivering his speech about having time to sit back and survey the scene. Once the lights came on, it was revealed that he was back with the original hairstyle he had prior to the mohawk he wore as a member of The Bar.

The big takeaway from the promotion is that The Celtic Warrior is ready to take over again. He called the rest of the blue brand roster “pathetic” as all he sees are “misfits and cowards.” Sheamus named some names too, including a “Fiend,” a “King,” and a “Shorty G.” From there, he announced his return to “ravage everything and everyone” standing in his way. Yes, the Brogue Kick will be taking no prisoners.
That leads to the question of who will be the first superstar for Sheamus to take on in a feud when he gets into the ring? Perhaps Shorty G or Ali will be his first opponents, or he’ll set his sights higher with one of the titles.
Why Sheamus was away from WWE
Sheamus was teamed up with Cesaro for quite some time to form The Bar — a team that won the tag team titles several times. They lost the SmackDown tag title match at WrestleMania 35 when they took on former-champions The Usos. A few days later on SmackDown, Sheamus suffered a concussion during a six-man tag match.
Since then, Sheamus had been in recovery mode. It was known that he’d been cleared medically as of September, but WWE was deciding on the next plan for him. There had been some talk of possibly bringing him out for the NXT TakeOver: WarGames or WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view events. However, neither of those plans has unfolded.
Even during his hiatus, Sheamus has continued to keep content flowing on his YouTube channel called Celtic Warrior Workouts. On the channel, he brings in special guests from WWE to show him different workouts they do. Some of the recent superstars on the channel have included Edge, Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan, and Batista.
It’s going to be interesting to see what direction Sheamus goes in next as far as the WWE SmackDown program goes. Some Twitter commenters have already speculated that maybe he’ll go for the Intercontinental Championship. For the most part, it appears many people on social media are happy to see that The Celtic Warrior is finally coming back.
