AEW held its weekly AEW Dynamite show this week without an audience due to the coronavirus.
However, while WWE has struggled to put out a compelling product without an audience, AEW knocked it out of the park.
The company used wrestlers at ringside to respond to the action in the ring and put on an entertaining show with great matches.
They also debuted Luke Harper, who left WWE for AEW.
The Exalted On in AEW
The Dark Order has promised the arrival of The Exalted One for three months now.
They have teased everyone from Matt Hardy and Raven to Christopher Daniels and Luke Harper. In the end, it was indeed Luke Harper.
The Dark Order came out to the ring and started talking about how the Exalted One was coming and then Christopher Daniels, one of the wrestlers at ringside for the show, grabbed a microphone and interrupted them.
Daniels and Kazarian went into the ring and Christopher told Evil Uno to shut up because people were tired of listening to them. He said no one believed that there even was an Exalted One anymore.
He called their bluff and told them they were nobodies who offered their minions nothing.
That is when the lights went out.
A video started, and a man in a long coat and hood started talking, in a muffled voice, telling Daniels that they are wrong and that there is an Exalted One.
He then said that he was here, and he took off his hood and showed it was Luke Harper.
Harper then re-introduced himself using his old name of Brodie Lee and said that Daniels wasn’t the only “out of touch old man to not believe in me. But I will be damn sure you are the last.”
The lights came back on, and Brodie Lee was in the ring with Evil Uno and Stu Grayson. They attacked Daniels and Kazarian. Brodie Lee himself took out Daniels with a big boot and a giant lariat.
It is sad that there was no audience because this would have received a massive pop from the crowd.
Brodie Lee in AEW
This is a huge move for AEW.
As Luke Harper, WWE never knew what to do with the wrestler. There were moments where they had him succeed as a tag team wrestler, but he is so much more than that.
The fact that WWE saw more in Erick Rowan than Luke Harper is mind-boggling.
Fans who only know Brodie Lee as Luke Harper are in for a treat in AEW.
AEW Dynamite airs on Wednesday nights at 8/7c on TNT.
