Kenny Omega revealed in an interview with Tokyo Sports that he was leaving NJPW and many thought he might be headed to the WWE.
The reports arrived late last week that the WWE was offering Omega up to $3.5 million to join their company but it now sounds like he might be looking in a different direction.
Will Kenny Omega sign with AEW Wrestling?
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kenny Omega plans to sign with All Elite Wrestling.
The AEW wrestling rally in Jacksonville introduced a number of huge surprises. Neville returned under his indie name of PAC and seemed to issue a challenge to Hangman Adam Page — possibly for Double Down in May.
The event ended with the biggest surprise of them all when Chris Jericho showed up and said that he was all in with All Elite Wrestling. He also signed a new deal with AEW wrestling.
However, one name that was absent from the AEW wrestling roster reveal was Kenny Omega.
According to Dave Meltzer, this is becuase Omega is under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling until January 31 and can’t legally announce a new destination until after that.
It was also reported that NJPW was very unhappy that Omega announced his departure in the interview with Tokyo Sports before he told them.
KUSHIDA had a press conference after talking with NJPW about his future, which is what they would have preferred Omega do.
There is word that NJPW is reconsidering their relationship with Ring of Honor over AEW Wrestling because they don’t want to completely lose out on working with Kenny Omega in the future.
What about KUSHIDA?
While it sounds like Kenny Omega is headed to the AEW Wrestling roster, KUSHIDA is rumored to be headed to the WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer, KUSHIDA is almost definitely heading to the WWE, and more specifically the NXT brand.
KUSHIDA could be a huge addition to the AEW wrestling roster but at his age, he said he wants to do something big and heading to the WWE could give him the big paycheck and a chance to perform on the national stage.
