Last night at AEW Revolution, Colt Cabana made a surprise appearance, trying to save SCU from a six-on-two attack from The Dark Order.

At first, there was no word on whether Colt Cabana had joined AEW or if this was a one-night deal. This took place in Chicago, Cabana’s home, so there were thoughts that it was just a special appearance.

Now, it turns out after AEW Revolution that Cabana is All Elite.

Tony Khan talks Colt Cabana in AEW

As is normal with All Elite Wrestling PPV events, there was an official press conference after the show, as there is with all sporting events.

At that conference, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that the company had signed Colt Cabana to a new deal to join the company.

The big news, and what probably sealed the deal, was that Colt Cabana can continue to wrestle in “other places” at Cabana’s discretion.

This is nothing new with AEW. It is the same deal that wrestlers like Jon Moxley (NJPW), Chris Jericho (NJPW), MJF (MLW), and The Lucha Brothers (AAA) have with the company.

Whether that means Colt Cabana will continue to work with Billy Corgan’s NWA is another story since NWA has a relationship with Ring of Honor, and there seems to be bad blood between Ring of Honor and AEW.

Khan said that Cabana has already worked as a commentator for AEW and will now work there as a wrestler and possibly a coach in the future as well.

He called Cabana a “valuable mind.”

Colt Cabana talks signing with AEW

Colt Cabana confirmed the signing with AEW himself on Twitter.

As @TonyKhan said last night,
I’ve signed with @AEWrestling & @AEWonTNT.
I’ve had different goals & ideas throughout my career in Wrestling.
Right now, to be involved on a national TV show & product with my Friends and Equals…it’s all I can ask for!
This will be fun!
Thankssss

While Ring of Honor had a nice presence, they were limited mostly to their agreement with FITE TV and the Sinclair owned channels across the nation.

However, with AEW on TNT, there is no one with the reach of this company now outside of WWE.

Other options, such as when Cabana was working with the NWA, gave him a worldwide presence on YouTube, but it was nowhere near the level of prestige of an AEW deal.

What Colt Cabana does next is still to be determined, but considering he attacked the Dark Order, expect him to play into that storyline.

AEW Dynamite airs on Wednesdays at 8/7c on TNT.
