The CM Punk trial ended this week and the jury found in favor of Punk and his best friend Colt Cabana over a WWE doctor who claimed they damaged his career.

Here is what we know about Chris Amann’s bio — the WWE doctor who lost this big court case.

Dr. Chris Amann is the senior ringside physician for the WWE and is the person that heads the treatment of wrestlers when they suffer injuries in the company. He is also the man who deals with other medical concerns and is one of the doctors who determines what treatment wrestlers undertake for various ailments.

Despite the popular belief that Dr. Amann the top doctor in the WWE, the actual WWE medical director is a man named Joseph Maroon and Dr. Amann is just one of eight names on the WWE corporate physicians list.

Dr. Amann works with the main roster WWE talent when it comes to medical care, as well as with the developmental stars in NXT. He is also the boss of all the other ringside physician and athletic trainers.

He got his undergraduate degree (microbiology) from the University of Michigan and then moved on to get his MD from Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine. His final step was completing his fellowship in Sports Medicine at Ohio State University.

Dr. Amann is board certified in both Sports Medicine and Family Medicine.

He has been with the WWE since May 2008 after working for years in private practice. He also spent time as an attending physician at Illinois Bone and Joint before signing on to work for the WWE. During that time, he worked as a team physician for local Chicago high schools.

Dr. Amann also had experience at a high level, working with Olympic athletes like Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain and Abby Wambach. He ended up as the team physician for the U.S. Women’s Olympic Soccer Team in 2008.
