The Goddess Alexa Bliss officially returned on Friday’s WWE SmackDown after another hiatus. In her surprise return, Bliss made her way to the ring to save her friend and tag-team partner Nikki Cross from an attack at the hands of their latest archnemeses. She was one of several WWE superstars who showed up after a hiatus from WWE for the latest SmackDown in Birmingham, Alabama.

Fire & Desire attack Cross, setting up Bliss return

Nikki Cross would square off against Sonya Deville in singles action on SmackDown, as Sonya’s partner Mandy Rose watched from ringside. Rose would distract Cross as she got onto the corner turnbuckle. Despite Deville’s efforts to capitalize, Cross reversed her pinfall attempt with an inside cradle for the win.

That set off Deville and Rose, who quickly attacked Cross as soon as the referee was raising her arm. They didn’t get in too much of their attack, as moments later, Alexa Bliss’ theme song hit and The Goddess rushed down the ramp and into the ring. From there, Alexa cleaned house, ultimately saving Cross. With Fire & Desire subdued, the former women’s tag team champions hugged it out in a sweet reunion in the ring.

Nikki Cross reacts to Bliss’ return

After Alexa’s big return, Cathey Kelley caught up with her and Nikki backstage for a exclusive interview. Nikki was still hugging Alexa with joy. Alexa said she’s also excited to be back, as Nikki started talking about Thanksgiving and being thankful for Alexa.

Back in May, Bliss was pulled from the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match due to not being medically cleared to compete. Nikki Cross would take her spot. She’d compete in several matches throughout the summer, and that included when she and Nikki started their feud with Deville and Rose.

In addition to Alexa Bliss’ return to WWE SmackDown, there were a few other superstars who made returns. The Celtic Warrior Sheamus returned via promo to announce he was coming back to wreak havoc on SmackDown. In addition, Elias returned for a backstage promo involving Dana Brooke and Drake Maverick.

Bliss was away from the ring since October’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, where she and Nikki lost their tag team titles to The Kabuki Warriors Asuka and Kairi Sane. Alexa is scheduled for a match at the upcoming WWE Starrcade to team with Cross for a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team match for the titles. Also competing are Becky Lynch with Charlotte, Bayley with Sasha Banks, and Asuka with Kairi Sane.

WWE Starrcade officially takes place on Sunday, December 1 at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, Georgia.
