The Detroit Lions have signed some pretty good players during the initial opening of NFL free agency. On Wednesday, they added to the list by signing several players, including former Atlanta Falcons star Desmond Trufant.

The move has already been rated as a solid one by NFL experts, however, Lions cornerback Darius Slay doesn’t seem too thrilled about it.

Lions continue free agent signings, add Desmond Trufant

The Detroit Lions had a rather productive Wednesday as they signed some more top talent to the squad.

First, they agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with defensive tackle Danny Shelton. Then, they acquired safety Duron Harmon in a trade with the New England Patriots.

They put the cap on the day by announcing that they had come to terms with former Atlanta Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant. Trufant was previously let go by the Falcons earlier in the week.

Early indications reveal that Trufant has signed a two-year free-agent contract worth a total of $21 million — $14 million coming in the form of guaranteed money.

Adding these defenders should go a long way, especially with a solid vet like Darius Slay who can play alongside Trufant, right?

Well, maybe not.

Slay wants out?

Slay obviously thinks the Trufant deal means he’s out in Detroit, and he wasted no time telling folks on Twitter how he felt.

The first tweet by Slay was in response to the breaking news broken by NFL guru Adam Schefter.

He congratulated Trufant, then said that he hopes it speeds up his trade process.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Slay carried the Twitter mojo on by conversing with former Vikings wideout Stefon Diggs.

Diggs, who was dealt to the Buffalo Bills, obviously must have been talking to Slay about new beginnings, saying that it’s time to start one.

Diggs responded to Slay’s comment about being traded with some laughing emojis.

That quickly led to Slay answering with something that would make a fan believe that they had already been discussing the possibility of a new start:

Slay simply responded: “Yes sirrr!!! What u said the other day lol time for a new start”

While Darius Slay has been rumored to be on the trading block for over a year now, he insists that he would love to finish his career in Detroit.

That seems hard to believe after responses like these following the Lions’ signing of Desmond Trufant.

Will Slay be dealt at the 2020 NFL Draft or even sooner? Stay tuned.
