On Sunday night, many sports spectators focused on the NBA as rookie Zion Williamson and superstar LeBron James were in a featured matchup.
The two players certainly didn’t disappoint with the show they put on.
It included plenty of highlights, including Zion Williamson having his way with the taller Dwight Howard and LeBron continuing to do things that basketball stars playing this long aren’t really doing.
At one point, the two featured players also had an interesting exchange involving their on-court skills.
Zion Williamson dunks and LeBron has an epic response
His career’s still young, but fans are starting to get glimpses of Zion Williamson’s capabilities. That included his backboard and rim-altering dunk during NBA Rising Stars and his recent highlight reel through just 14 games.
During Sunday’s home game against LeBron and the Lakers, Zion was one of the main attractions, and once again, fans got to see a dunk or two.
With under 40 seconds to go in the first half, Zion got the ball in the paint and drove past the Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma.
From there, the rookie showed off his powerful ability to leap and slam it home with one hand. LeBron was a nearby spectator, at least for a moment.
On the ensuing play on the other end, the King pulled up from just past the halfcourt line and knocked down a three-pointer from “about 28 feet.” Don’t try to steal the spotlight from the league’s top star just yet.

LeBron gets triple-double in impressive battle with Zion
The two players weren’t necessarily guarding one another all night but had moments where they were in that situation.
However, the commentators reminded fans that both players brought their A-game for a potential preview of a first-round playoff matchup.
Zion Williamson finished with a new career-high for his rookie season. He shot 12-for-16 to tally 35 points. Williamson also pulled down seven boards.
That came in just 33 minutes, and as the commentators wondered, how much is he going to do when he’s playing more minutes?
LeBron would finish with another triple-double to add to his lengthy career total. James finished with 34 points on 14-for-21 shooting along with 13 assists and 12 rebounds.
His team also picked up the 122-114 road win, bouncing back from Saturday night’s loss to Ja Morant and the Grizzlies.
The Lakers are now 46-13 overall, maintaining their hold on the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. The New Orleans Pelicans are still on the outside looking in at 26-34, three games behind Memphis for the No. 8 seed.
If Memphis or New Orleans get that final seed and the Lakers continue their stay at the top, NBA fans should certainly be looking forward to seeing one of the league’s all-time greats against one of the next top stars.
