10th September 2019 11:26 PM ET
The Christian Yelich injury update from Tuesday night is not one that fans wanted to see. The Milwaukee Brewers and fantasy baseball owners have just lost Yelich for the year.
At the start of the day, the Brewers were just six games back in the National League Central. They were also just two games back in the NL Wild Card standings.
The Brewers took a big hit when Yelich fouled a ball off of his knee on Tuesday night. Shared below, the Brewers have released an official update on the situation.

It had been a remarkable season for Yelich with the Brewers this year. Through 129 games this season, Yelich posted a .330 batting average with 44 home runs and 97 RBIs.
Yelich also had an on-base percentage of .430 to lead the league and a .672 slugging percentage that led all of baseball. Add that to 100 runs scored, 30 stolen bases, a 1.102 OPS, and 328 total bases.
Last season, Yelich won the National League MVP Award with 36 home runs, 110 RBIs, and a .326 batting average. He was having a better year in 2019, but that has gone off the rails now.

This is going to be really hard on Christian Yelich, but even harder on the Milwaukee Brewers and fantasy baseball owners who are in the midst of head-to-head playoffs. The Brewers have lost their best player, possibly costing them a chance at going deep in the postseason.
For fantasy baseball owners, Yelich is now droppable in redraft leagues but has to be stashed in an IL slot in all keeper and dynasty leagues. Having an injury take place in the final weeks of the MLB season is especially brutal for a player as good as Yelich.
