The Young and the Restless spoilers for next week’s episode of the CBS soap reveal that one Genoa City villain may be fast forgotten in favor of a new evil-doer, while The Mustache swoops in and takes charge like only he can.

It’s about time that Victor (Eric Braeden) returned to right some wrongs! But first, there’s good news to note, Y&R will not be interrupted next week for holiday programming.

First off there’s the whole Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) mess. No, not the misguided effort she made befriending hideous Mia (Noemi Gonzalez). We mean the disastrous consequences of her drinking again and being the victim of a hit and run. Oh, and the part about killing her son-in-law, J.T. Who could forget that?

Don’t be surprised if that’s exactly what happens however! First of all the mastermind behind the convoluted storyline is gone as EP/head writer Mal Young has announced he’s off to greener, more fertile pastures. Second, Nikki can’t exactly go to jail if she disappears after nearly being killed by her grandson.

Expect the fallout from Victor’s effort to shield Nikki to escalate next week!

And what exactly is going on with the Ana/Devon/Fen mess of a storyline? Nothing makes sense in this millennial angst plotline which has the hallmarks of another dunderheaded plot destined to soon exit along with its maker.

Fenmore (Zach Tinker) is an insta-hit with music mogul Devon (Bryton James) but Ana (Loren Lott) can’t cop to writing his earthshaking song because why? Enough already.

While we’re at it, Lola (Sasha Calle) seems doomed to 86 her Upstairs, Downstairs romance with Kyle (Michael Mealor) in record time. Her virtue isn’t for sale and neither is her sense of fashion!

Somehow she is offended by a pricey Christmas gift handbag. If she was as smart and righteous as she thinks she is, she’d stop ranting and hawk the clutch for a second food truck, or better yet pay off the town’s Walmart layaways.

The good news is that the New Year will bring with it a new writer and hopefully a return to the tried and true characters and storytelling that Y&R fans expect and deserve!

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays during the day on CBS and on PopTV in the evening.
