June Shannon, better known as Mama June from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and now, Mama June: From Not to Hot has been hugely successful in losing weight and changing her entire appearance.
There’s really no argument that her transition has been incredible but that hasn’t stopped the reality star from dealing with a host of other issues including blindness.
In the first look for Season 2 of Mama June: From Not to Hot, June talks about how she’s having trouble with her eyesight. She’s seen in tears while Pumpkin has her ultrasound because she wants to see her grandchild.
The scene is so emotional that it has a lot of viewers wondering why Mama June is going blind.
It turns out that June’s loss of eyesight is really nothing new. She’s actually legally blind and has been dealing with this for a very long time.
In fact, the first time viewers heard about Mama June’s eyesight was back when Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was still on the air.
It was back in 2013 that a rep from TLC told the Daily Mail that Mama June’s eyesight has become so bad that she can’t even get a driver’s license anymore.
The reason for her blindness comes from improperly treated cataracts that began to form during her childhood.
Prior to the midseason break, June had surgery to help keep her from going blind. Previously, the WEtv star was warned that surgery may make things worse but June was willing to risk it all in order to see Pumpkin’s baby.
