Who is Tabius Tate on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta
Tabius Tate has stirred up quite a bit of drama on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta

Tabius Tate joined Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta as supporting cast. When Season 7 premiered, he was dating Tokyo Vanity, another newcomer to the show.

It didn’t last long before Tokyo dumped Tabius for going on a date with another girl. Soon after, he was romantically linked with another new LHHATL cast member. When Tokyo found out that Tabius was dating Spice, the two women clashed violently.

So what is it about Tabius Tate that is worth fighting over?

Season 7 of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta is Tabius Tate’s first time on reality TV and television in general. He is originally from Mobile, Alabama, and made a name for himself early on as a high school All-American basketball player.

It makes sense that Tabius chased his NBA dreams after high school but, as it turns out, music was his real passion. After training with the Atlanta Hawks but not making the team, his basketball dreams fizzled out but his ability to rap gave Tabius a second chance at fame.

In 2011, Tabius released a mixtape titled I Am Tabius Tate, announcing his entry into the hip hop world. Just two years later, he dropped another mixtape, This Ain’t A Muthaf**kin Mixtape, and this was where it became clear that he has a few connections.

Gucci Mane appeared on a track on that mixtape, as did BMF star Bleu DaVinci. It’s probably not a coincidence that Tabius and Bleu made their debuts on the same season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. After all, Bleu signed Tabius to BMF after meeting him at a gas station and liking what he heard.

Just a year later, Tabius dropped another mixtape, this time titled This Ain’t A Mixtape, as well as a new track called “Kendrick Lamar (The Verb.)

Though he’s not received the kind of fame as some of the biggest rappers in Atlanta, Tabius Tate is gaining recognition for his lyrical abilities. Check out what he did with The Fugee’s Ready or Not in the video below for his own song, Determination.

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta airs Mondays at 8/7c on VH1.
