Sky Brown took home the Mirror Star title last night on Dancing With The Stars: Juniors with her dance partner, JT Church.

She and JT had been mentored by the dancing pro, Alan Bersten, throughout their time on the show, which saw viewers fall in love with the inspirational youngster.

But who is the courageous 10-year-old, who wants people to be the best they can be while having fun?

Brown is a skateboarder and a surfing phenomenon. Unlike some of her competitors, she’s not known for her acting or singing talent, but rather because she has become a viral video sensation.

She started skateboarding when she was just three years old, and she has already managed to get over 50 million views to her videos online. She’s currently the youngest competitor in a professional skateboarding competition and Sky has big dreams about being the best in her field.

She is currently based in Japan, where she is from, and she’s sponsored by Roxy, Almost Skateboards, Nike SB, Grizzly, Pride Socks, and Tech Deck. She is working on competing at Tokyo 2020, the next summer Olympics, which would be her first Olympic Games.

Sky shares an online platform with her younger brother Ocean Brown, who is just as passionate about skateboarding as herself. But Sky realizes that she has a big platform and a big responsibility when it comes to encouraging young girls, and says she wants to empower girls around the world while giving back to children in underdeveloped areas.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Sky Brown opened up about her dreams of making skateboarding more accessible to girls around the world. She also talked about how she’s balancing skateboarding, surfing, and her school while living in Japan.

“I hope to keep traveling the world and meeting girls from all over, including South Africa and Afghanistan. Even though it’s a little scary, I don’t care because there are girls out there who are just like me. And just like me, they should be able to do what they love. I want to travel there and skate with them to show them a different way of living. My ultimate dream is to not just be a pro-skater, but a singer, surfer, climber and fighter. I want to do it all,” she told the magazine.

During last night’s finale episode, she and JT managed to score perfect 30s on their two dances, making Alan very proud. People Magazine said they believed that Sky was the perfect winner because she embodies everything that a young winner should have, including talent, a positive attitude, and a desire to do more.

Who are Sky Brown’s parents?

Sky’s mother Mieko is Japanese while her father Stu is British. They run her and her brother’s social media accounts and other affairs. The family’s home is in the city of Miyazaki in southwest Japan.

Her dad has previously told how at first he tried to get Sky NOT to skateboard. He told the Daily Mail: “Before she was three I didn’t want her to get on a skateboard. You have a little girl and you want to wrap her in cotton wool. But it was the one toy she kept going back to.”

Mieko said she also had nerves about her daughter performing some of the stunts she does, but added: “I trust her. If she says she can do it, I believe her.”

Dancing With The Stars: Juniors has wrapped for the season, but could possibly return next year.
