Where is Lydia McLaughlin and why isn’t she on The Real Housewives of Orange County this season?

The Real Housewives of Orange County returned with several familiar faces, but there is one cast member who seems to be missing. After several ups and downs during Season 12, Lydia McLaughlin has opted to not return for another round of drama.

Lydia McLaughlin was part of the cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County during Season 8 but left after only one season back then. She opted to return for Season 12 but was met with heavy criticism from Shannon Beador. The drama escalated each week and eventually, it was taking a toll on her positive energy.

Back in February, Lydia McLaughlin announced her desire to exit The Real Housewives of Orange County. That news was coupled with newbie Peggy Sulahian reportedly being cut from the show and Meghan King Edmonds announcing she would not be returning because she was expecting twins.

All of the exits sparked the need for new women to join RHOC. Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter are the newest members of the squad and both have the potential to add some value and chaos to the show.

As for whether Lydia McLaughlin would return to The Real Housewives of Orange County again, that remains to be seen. She did say that she can handle it one season at a time, which was proven when she appeared on Season 8 and Season 12. For now, McLaughlin is enjoying spending time with her children and husband.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs Monday nights at 9/8c on Bravo.
