This week on Josh Gates’ Destination Truth, the team head to the area around the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine where the 1986 accident left the area abandoned.

After the accident all the town and villages near the reactor were evacuated and they remain ghost towns, eairly stills with everything much the way it was when the people fled. Of course nature and time have been busy and the buildings are now in a ruinous state but you still get a real feel of the panic of the day.

However, although the people are yet to return most of the animals have. Indeed many scientists were surprised to see so many back so soon, thriving without humans to compete with for resources and space. Though some visitors have reported encounters with creatures that don’t seem entirely natural….

Alson on this episode, Josh heads to the ancient deserts along the River Nile in Egypt where a creature roams and is troubling the locals.

Josh Gates’ Destination Truth? airs on Fridays at 9:00 PM Travel Channel.
