Welcome to Plathville features the Plaths — a family of 11. Kim and Barry Plath, as well as their nine children, are followed around by cameras as they experience life on the farm and introduce their way of living to the world.

The Plaths have nine children who are alive and well, but one of their babies was tragically lost in an accident over 10 years ago.

Joshua Plath was killed after he was accidentally run over by Kim Plath as she planted trees on their farm. She had been driving from spot to spot, and when she went to move to the next place, the toddler was tragically killed.

This happened back in 2008, and when Kim discussed it during the Welcome to Plathville confessional, she was still very much affected by it.

At the time of Joshua’s passing, Kim Plath was expecting another child. That baby grew into now 10-year-old Amber. Joshua was just 17 months old when he died, something that sticks with both Kim and Barry Plath to this day.

The story about Joshua Plath was discussed on the most recent episode of Welcome to Plathville when Barry and Kim left the other children home and went to the beach to celebrate 22 years of marriage. There, they reflected on that part of their life.

Kim revealed that not only had Barry lost a son but in the months after the tragic accident, he also lost his wife.

On their family blog, Kim Plath talked about the events that transpired on that day where her son Joshua lost his life. It was a tragic accident and even though 10 years have gone by since his death, things are still raw for the Welcome to Plathville mom.

Kim opening up about such a monumental moment in her story was courageous, especially because she is the one who was behind the wheel of the vehicle that ran over her little toddler.

Welcome to Plathville airs Tuesday nights at 10/9c on TLC.
