TV Picks: Episode 7: “Blood Eagle” – ‘Vikings’ on History Thursday, April 10th at 10 p.m.is a top drama and so very good this season.
What to expect: Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and King Horik (Donal Logue) clash over how to dispense justice to Jarl Borg, aka JarlyB around these parts. In Wessex, King Aelle arrives and Ecbert the bather has an eye on a new alliance.
And I think someone major in the cast is going to die!
Let’s just rewind for a moment.
Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig) revealed her bitterness to the Seer (John Kavanagh). Now this little woman doesn’t seem like trouble, but trust me, a seething woman is more dangerous than any huge Viking coming at you with a sword! You won’t see it coming. Ask Lagertha’s (Kathryn Winnick) DEAD husband Earl Sigvard. Best. Scene. Ever.
History, please send me the still of that moment when Sigvard gets his wife beater lobotomy please! I want to frame it.
Ecbert (Linus Roache) is just like Ragnar in keeping a smarter man around to help in his own causes. Ecbert adores baths and HATES religious wing-nuts. He loves the more Jesuit approach to Christianity that Athelstan (George Blagden) serves up, meaning he is not a biblical literalist who goes around screaming “Apostate” every time someone says “but what about these books… the dinosaurs and why can’t women have equal rights?”
Ecbert is a Renaissance man who despises these hair-shirt wearing pillow biting (most likely) clerics who love to crucify at the drop of their pointy hats.
I am telling you, mark my words, Siggy is going to be trouble. Even if Ragnar reunites with Lagertha and Aslaug is sent packing. In my heart I believe Ragnar is bored out of his mind with Aslaug and misses Lagertha terribly. I want to believe this.
What I think is going to happen is the court of Sigvard, who aided Lagertha in decapitating that POS Earl, will rally to her and maybe to Ragnar too, bringing her back into his encampment.
But seriously, keep an eye on Siggy.
Preview for tonight!
