Getting excited for the Titans TV show coming in 2018? Here’s everything you need to know about the release date, cast, trailer and more.
One of the most requested shows from DC and Warner Bros. has been a live-action version of the Teen Titans cartoon series. With the rise of the Arrowverse TV shows, it seems the time has finally come in the shape of Titans.
The show follows the exploits of Dick Grayson (Robin) and Rachel Roth (Raven) as they team up with Gar Logan (Beast Boy) and Koriand’r (Starfire) to form the Titans and combat a threat to the entire planet.

The Titans trailer dropped this morning, likely due to all the Comic-Con connections we’re going to see the next week or so.
The trailer gave many of us a lot to unpack. First and foremost, we now can confirm the show will be TV-MA. This will be a new take on the normally family-friendly version of the Teen Titans. The Titans show looks to be quite compelling, but there is a lot left to be desired. Let us first mention what they got right. They clearly have a good interpretation of the dark genre in DC and it’s very smart of them to go that direction for a Titans TV Show knowing the success Arrow has seen using this.
Different from Arrow is the rating, with Robin dropping an F-Bomb right away in the show. They’re also not going to rely on the old guard of heroes to help things out. When asked where Batman was, Robin was quick to point out how the bat was clearly not who they should be scared of at the moment. They also had a great look for Raven, who is hard to completely pin down from her dark side to the sweeter side she possesses.
Even Beast Boy looked to be pretty good in the show, so waiting on post-production for him was clearly smart for fans. Starfire’s look has also improved since some of the early images, with her now looking a little more badass than down and out.
Titans TV show cast
Although the full cast has yet to be announced, we do know who will play a number of the characters set to appear on the show. Teagan Croft will play Raven, Brenden Thwaites will play Robin/Dick Grayson, Ryan Potter will play Garfield Logan/Beast Boy, and we will see Anna Diop play Starfire. There are a number of guest stars in the show or recurring characters. Two of the primary recurring will be Hawk and Dove, played by Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly respectively.
Lindsey Gort will play Amy Rohrbach, said to be Dick Grayson’s new partner who happens to be on the police force. Curran Walters will guest star as Jason Todd as well. It appears like Todd will be coming into the show young, due to Curran playing him. So this is well before he becomes the Red Hood and may likely be where he ends up becoming the new Robin for a while. Due to Brenden’s age about the time we see him as Robin, we’ll likely see him become Nightwing by the end of the series.
The Acolyte as the villain
Normally when there is ever talk of a movie or live-action show for Teen Titans, Deathstroke is the automatic choice for the villain. The problem with this is that Deathstroke will be coming to the DC movie universe. So instead of causing a problem with casting another Deathstroke, already having to remove uses of Manu Bennett from Arrow, they decided on a new villain. His name? The Acolyte.
The character of The Acolyte is quite fearsome and will likely rank as one of the darker villains across any superhero TV show, especially with the TV-MA rating we’re going into this with. He is known to be an immortal who often looks like our interpretation of The Devil. He will come into play when he murders Raven’s adopted mother, as he is there to kill Raven instead. This is going to link us to Raven’s real father, a devil in his own right, known as Trigon. Seamus Dever will play the character.
The Acolyte will be played by Jarreth J. Merz, though he only appears in two episodes according to IMDB.
Titans TV Show release date
The Titans TV Show will launch this fall on the DC Universe streaming platform. It’s uncertain if the first thirteen episodes will all drop at once or on a weekly basis, but a weekly drop off has been mentioned on and off for the last few months. It’ll likely all depend on what else they decide to add this Fall.
Notable absences and Doom Patrol spin-Off
The notable absence is that of longtime Teen Titans members Miss Martian, Red Arrow, Kid Flash, and Superboy. As well as the connection to Victor Stone/Cyborg. A number of these were missing for good reasons, as 3 are being played by people in the Arrowverse and one of them is in the Justice League films. It’s also harder to add someone like Superboy to this team without Miss Martian and other connections. Especially a connection to Cadmus, also being used in the Arrowverse.
A few other future Titans members will guest star as well such as Conor Leslie as Donna Troy/Wonder Girl and a slew of Doom Patrol members. The show is going to serve as sort of an introduction of the Doom Patrol and their leader, Niles Caulder also known as Chief. He’ll be played by Bruno Bichir, a veteran actor.
April Bowlby will be playing Elasi-Woman, Jake Michels will play Robotman, and Dwain Murphy will play Negative Man. All three are crucial characters to the Doom Patrol who are very needed if they are to set up a show out of them down the line. It is expected this won’t be coming until 2019 at the earliest.
