On last week’s episode of The Curse of Oak Island, all the excitement was on the swamp. Even Marty Lagina, who notoriously hates the marshy land, exclaimed: “I’m getting all enthused about the swamp, come on, man.”

Yet another group of experts came up with an exciting theory that urged the lads to consider draining/digging the swamp.

It appears that someone, many centuries ago, might have gone to great lengths to conceal something of enormous importance in the area.

Narrater, Robert Clothworthy, speculated that a tunnel to the Money Pit might be in the swamp, or maybe something even more fantastic, like the Holy Grail or the Ark of the Covenant or some other great treasure.

In this week’s preview, it looks like the lads are finally making a concentrated effort to get to the bottom of the swamp.

“Fire up the pump,” someone shouts as we see water being pumped quickly from a tube. Billy Gerhardt’s digger lumbers into view as someone else shouts, “excited to be digging up the swamp.”

As usual, Jack Begley can’t hide his excitement: “What if we get to the bottom, and there’s gold coins there.”

We also see Geologist Terry Matheson, who looks like he’s standing by the site of their recent discovery of Shaft 2. He continues to look for the elusive tunnel that supposedly protrudes from Shaft 2 and heads into the Money Pit.

We see him looking at a clay sample and hear hin saying, “we hit the side of the tunnel gentlemen.” Then he adds, “we could be close to the Money Pit,” in a surprisingly deadpan tone.

This week’s episode is titled Gary Strikes Again, so I think we can expect some thrilling discovery on the part of metal detectorist Gary Drayton.

Indeed, in the preview, we hear his detector making a high-pitched squealing noise accompanied by the man himself shouting: “oh my gosh, that’s bloody silver, mate.”

The History network says excitement abounds when Gary uncovers what could be a “friend of the cross.”

Gary appears to have discovered a smallish silver rectangular piece. Is it connected to the Knights Templar and the cross? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

The Curse Of Oak Island season 7 episode 10 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on History.
