Ruslan and Roman Glukhoy’s murderous crash into Jose Barriga-Tovar and his daughter spotlighted on Evil Twins

Former high school wrestling champions Ruslan and Roman Glukhoy were found guilty of murdering Jose Barriga-Tovar and his daughter, Evil Twins examines the case.

April 2, 2014, in Placer County, California, and identical twin brothers Ruslan and Roman Glukhoy, along with an accomplice, were spotted trying to steal cars in the South Auburn area. They ended up fleeing the scene in a stolen BMW that they quickly crashed into an off-ramp. The third man then fled on foot, whilst the brothers stole another vehicle and continued their flight from the police.

They drove the stolen truck at speeds up to 100 mph until evenutally their luck ran out in Antelope, near Sacramento, where they ran a red light and were involved in a deadly crash. The pair smashed their stolen vehicle into a car being driven by 35-year-old Jose Barriga-Tovar, who was taking his 14-year-old daughter Anahi Tovear to her friend’s house, so she could catch the school bus.

Both Jose and Anahi were killed instantly in the crash.

In January 2017 the 21-year-old brothers were found guilty, with Rusian being convicted on two counts of first-degree murder for which he was was given a life sentence with no possibility of parole. His brother Roman was found guilty on two counts of second-degree murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
