Brooke Lynn Hytes is the first Canadian drag queen to compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Hytes will compete on season 11 — a season that will air on VH1 sometime in 2019.

Previous contestants have primarily been from America, so this is the first time that a queen from the north gets to compete. Despite being from Canada, Brooke Lynn Hytes is currently located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hytes is from Etobicoke, Ontario, which is located just outside the Toronto downtown core. She was known as Brock Hayhoe back then, perfecting her skills as a ballet dancer.

It was there that she started moving into the drag scene at Toronto’s bars and nightclubs.

Hytes explained that it’s an honor to represent Canada on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She also said that she feels that she has done more than others to get here, including getting a work visa to come to the United States.

In a YouTube video shared by VH1 to introduce Brooke Lynn Hytes, she explained that people may misunderstand her at first because she takes a while to warm up to people. This could work against her if some of the other queens find that she’s rude or arrogant. Only time will tell.

Brooke Lynn Hytes admitted she feels the pressure of representing a whole country as the first Canadian on the show, and the competition is fierce this season. She will be up against three queens from the House of Davenport, and several of the contestants have mentors who are previous contestants.

But bringing something new and unique to the table could be what wins her season 11 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 will premiere in 2019 and a premiere date will be released shortly.
