The finale of Rick and Morty Season 3 aired on October 1 of last year and the series has grown in popularity since then with many fans following the adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty on Adult Swim re-runs. In May 2018, Adult Swim renewed the popular series and ordered 70 episodes but did not specify how many seasons.

When will Rick and Morty Season 4 be coming out?

In the post-credit scene of the third season finale, Mr. Poopybutthole apologized for not appearing in any of the ten episodes but told fans that they will have to wait a really long time for Rick and Morty Season 4.

Fans have been hoping for a Christmas release date by holding on to Mr. Poopybutthole tease in the finale of the third season saying that “I might even have a big, white Santa Claus beard.”

Co-creator of Rick and Morty Dan Harmon revealed that the first recordings of Season 4 were in the works back in August this year.

Therefore, there is very little chance that Adult Swim will drop a surprise release of the new season. However, a Christmas special clip may be in the realm of possibility.

Rick and Morty have released promotion short episodes in the past, such as ‘The Poop in My Pants.’

While a Christmas premiere is highly unlikely, keep a look out on the Adult Swim’s YouTube channel for Christmas special outtakes or a promotional episode. Rick and Morty Season 4 will likely come out in late 2019.
