This week’s Real Time with Bill Maher had guests including documentary filmmaker Michael Moore at the top of the show, journalist Jeremy Scahill, former Fla Sen. Bob Graham, political commentator Jack Hunter and BBC news anchor Katty Kay.
But it was the brass balls of some conservatives postulating the rise of Trump is due in great part to liberals that ignited the New Rules segment.
Maher pointed out he was the initiator of removing the sacred cow of political correctness on TV and has taken liberals to task for many stupid overcompensatory rules and edicts. He lost it last night when he gave his show summary on conservatives penning op-eds on why we have liberals to thank for The Donald’s rise in political life.
Maher said: “I’ve ridiculed liberals for everything from offensive Halloween costumes to Islamophobia; from the self-esteem movement to college campuses forgetting what free speech is. But none of that justifies embracing a dangerous buffoon simply because his lack of political correctness is cathartic. Trump is YOUR problem.
But somehow the ‘party of personal responsibility’ doesn’t want to take responsibility for this one.”
Maher says the GOP and conservatives are spinning a “thesis” on why Trump is popular, joking that his base “are perfectly nice if left alone, like raccoons…they just want to eat garbage and crap in your hot tub.”
Maher blasted the conservatives for ignoring facts and fairness, and not being accepting of homosexuals, transgenders and global warming.
“…Check the climate science. Check the dashboard camera on the police car. Check your pastor’s Internet history.”
In one moment Senator Graham essentially lays the blame for 9/11 based on the “28 pages” at the feet of the Saudis.
Another moment to watch for his journalist and “The Intercept” co-founder Jeremy Scahill joins Bill to discuss his latest book, “The Assassination Complex,” and President Obama’s use of drone warfare in the Middle East. He lays out that Trump is a fascist and argues with Bill over Obama’s use of drones.
Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore joins Bill to discuss the lead poisoning of Flint, Michigan.
“Well that was quick…”
Bill and his guests – Katty Kay, Jack Hunter, and former Sen. Bob Graham – discuss the reluctant embrace of Donald Trump by the Republican establishment. Maher says, “Trump gets 84% of Republicans in an match up with Hillary…”
