Last night’s Real Time with Bill Maher was spot on as Maher pointed out the bullshit loud and clear on why churches skate tax-free and big corporations as well.
It might not sit well with the preacher class but nearly 25% of Americans are some level of agnostic/atheist and are questioning this very fact too.
Churches and religions are responsible for a litany of ills as well as their do-good projects and services, but why are preachers and churches allowed to make astronomical income without paying a portion in taxes like everyone else? Especially when you see the Osteens and Crefo Dollars of the world raking it in selling their brand of life coach, feel-good pablum?
Maher continues its 14th season Friday, April 15 with his top of the show guest “sister wife” Arianna Huffington, editor-in-chief, Huffington Post Media Group who extolled the virtues of sleep in a book that was released in 2016.
She encouraged Bill to remove all screens from his bedroom and also praised masturbation as the way to kick in natural Ambien with orgasms.
Susan Sarandon was the mid-show interview guest who couldn’t even verbalize Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee, she is so pro-Bernie Sanders. She also blasted The Hollywood Reporter and other trades for misquoting her in their headlines.
The roundtable guests were leftist journalist Amy Goodman, journalist Mary Katharine Ham and former Cruz employee and political analyst Rick Tyler.
But the juice of the show came when Maher unleashed on why religious institutions aren’t taxed in the U.S.
The tax-free status of these preachers and religions including cults like Scientology made Maher issue a call-to-action to all American citizens.
“[Religion] is a senseless homophobic magic act that’s been used to justify everything from genital mutilation to genocide.” – Maher 4/15/16
Maher featured the biggest huckster of all, Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard who said that the only way to make any real money in this world was to start a religion.
Maher shared that 22% of Americans identify as atheists or agnostics, saying why are “almost a quarter of us are being forced to subsidize a myth that we’re not buying into. Why am I subsidizing their Sunday morning hobby?”
“Why am I subsidizing their Sunday morning hobby?”
Also, watch the video where Sarandon, who is for Sen. Bernie Sanders, accuses Hillary Clinton of “selling fracking all over Jersey.”
“I think Bernie Sanders is going to get the nomination,” Sarandon insisted. “Don’t burst my bubble. Those words [supporting Hillary] cannot come out of my mouth at this point.”
Maher asked her about how liberals attacked her for allegedly supporting Trump:
“Some of the liberals didn’t read the article or see the interview,” she said. “They just looked at these misleading headlines that The Daily Beast, The Hollywood Reporter, and The Hill put up there saying that I supported Trump, but if you read it or you saw it, I did not say that.”
Maher then said if there was not a choice with Hillary, to “eat the chicken” meaning vote for her in the general election.
“I’m a vegetarian,” she replied.
