Maher pulled no punches as he lost his mind over the nonsensical legislative rollbacks and “d*** moves” of the GOP under Donald Trump.
During his wrap up of New Rules, Maher said: “Who the f*** is still in the corner of biggest asbestos in 2017? When was the last time you heard someone say, ‘yeah we just bought a house can’t wait to move in, but not until we install the asbestos!’
Maher speculated it was just pure spite that made the GOP roll back all the progressive and common sense legislation of the previous administration.
Bill and his guests, Jelani Cobb, Rep. Ted Lieu, Ana Navarro, Evan McMullin and Chelsea Handler all individually had their beefs with the new administration and stayed to answer viewer questions in the Overtime segment, posted below.
But the highlight of the show was Maher laying into the sins of the GOP in their relentless spiteful rollbacks of all good laws we currently have.
It was during his New Rules segment that he crystallized his argument: What would a d*** do?
Maher said: “What possible reason other than spite could they have for killing the agreement Obama made with the car companies to get all cars up to an average of 55 miles a gallon in eight years this was a done deal! An industry that we taxpayers bailed out and is now making record profits already agreed to it. It makes the air cleaner, it makes us more energy independent, it saves people money that they can spend on other things… it was a win, win, win, win!”
He continued to drive home his point: “That’s called a no-brainer, which would lead you to believe even Republicans could get it right! All they had to do was nothing, their specialty. But no! No, no, no! It goes against the prime directive of… let’s say it together, ‘being a d***!'”
“They know carbon is killing the planet, they don’t care because the main purpose of a car is to piss off liberals! Good gas mileage is for Europeans and lesbians… and a Republican drives a Chevy Suburban and always parks it in a space marked for compact cars only!””
Maher also points out Rick Santorum, a guest from last week, lied again, as he and Chelsea Handler discussed Trump’s defense of Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, who reached a $13 million settlement with five+ different women who accused him of sexual harassment over the last decade. The two joked about how they could get the allegedly repulsive Bill O’Reilly laid.
Maher set the tone of the show right off the bat in his monologue: “I feel like a woman who works at Fox News…I’m touched.”
He added: “Today Republicans got their two favorite things: a right-wing a****** on the Supreme Court and Trump finally blowing some s*** up.”
Maher also noted how Republicans signed a letter stating they were against the president taking military action in Syria without approval from Congress, yet now they support Trump’s nighttime Tomahawk strike in Syria.
He took a cheeky jab at the unusual relationship between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. He said: “If Trump does the wrong thing, Putin might not re-elect him!”
Bill Maher then took on new Supreme Court justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. “Bill O’Reilly was so excited, he groped himself,” Maher said.
Comedian and TV show host Chelsea Handler and Bill discuss the week in sexist bores in American media and politics:
Ana Navarro is a proud Latina and lets Bill and the panel know every chance she gets! Bombing both sides:
