In a bold move where Ted Cruz was compared to Subway’s fallen spokesperson Jared Fogle and Trump was compared to a zombie candidate, HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher laid into the GOP this week – describing it as like a “filthy pee-stained house full of dead cats”.
Maher also urged GOP voters to “punt” the election and go into opposition again so the party can undergo a “top to bottom” revamp.
“Donald Trump’s campaign is a lot like his casinos: full of smoke and mirrors, and older white people dealt bad hands.” -Maher on Trump
The show opened with the affable United States Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez, who defended the move to up the minimum wages across the country and called out the GOP as the Eeyore party.
Then flame-haired comedian Kathy Griffin served as the mid-show interview guest and went toe-to-toe with conservative panelist Andy Dean, who is schilling for Trump. The other roundtable guests were author Max Brooks and economic equality advocate Heather McGhee.
Maher caught flak for defending (to a point) Bill Clinton’s moment with the Black Lives Matter people and also Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
Lewandowski found himself in the headlines after former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields “trumped” up assault charges against him which were shown to be overblown by a video of her trying to get an interview with GOP candidate Trump, as Lewandowski maneuvered her away from him.
Dean agreed with Maher while everyone else was not buying the argument.

Meanwhile, Maher’s defense of Lewandowski does not mean he isn’t anti-Trump, as he gleefully told people where to find Trump’s star on the walk of fame in Hollywood – while urging people not to listen to sensationalized reports people were “pooping” on it.
He also referred to the Donald as “a bipolar five-year-old” for calling out Ted Cruz after he lost Wisconsin to the evangelical Canadian-born Texan.
Maher said: “He has two settings: you cheated, and you started it! It’s like, if I win I win, and if you win, it doesn’t because you cheated, so fuck you! I’m beginning to see why nobody went to his casinos.”
Meanwhile, Max Brooks urged people to vote with their wallets and claimed he was going to get a Chevy Volt in lieu of a Toyota Prius based on Mississippi’s new draconian “religious freedom” laws that infringe on the civil rights of LGBT people.
