TV Picks: Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld better get ready for Kentucky’s finest import since bluegrass. bourbon and George Clooney.
Greg Gutfeld is a libertarian political satirist, humorist, magazine editor and blogger, best known as the loquacious host of the Fox News Channel program “Red Eye With Greg Gutfeld.” His long-running series airs at 3 a.m. ET Tuesday through Saturday and covers a variety of topics including news, entertainment, sports, and gossip. Gutfeld is also a host of FNC’s “The Five,” a weekday program at 5 p.m. ET.
His upcoming Red Eye show is set to book Kentucky native Michele Mahone, a well known Australian news reporter who covers gossip and entertainment news down under and who is stepping out here in the US as a stand up comedian.
A native of Eastern Kentucky, Los Angeles resident Michele Mahone became a Hollywood correspondent for the ‘Weekend Today Show’ and Mornings with Kerri-Anne in Australia back in 2008. The Aussies were fascinated by her southern charms and assigned her to cover the redneck Olympics and bring the coverage back to Australia where the locals connected with American southern culture and humor. In 2014 she joined ‘Wake Up’ on Australia’s Network TEN. She has appeared on the BBC and can be heard daily on radio in Australia, the US and Canada.
Greg Gutfeld’s book, “The Joy of Hate” had Bill Maher regular guest Jonah Goldberg of the LA Times offer this up: “The funny thing about Gutfeld is that he’s really funny. But this fact obscures the other funny thing about Gutfeld: he’s really absurdly smart.”
