This week’s Killing Fields on Discovery brings back to light the horrific crimes of the Baton Rouge Serial Killer, Derrick Todd Lee.
The episode sees retired Detective Rodie Sanchez and Detective Aubrey St. Angelo from the sheriff’s office return to Whiskey Bay to do a sweep of the waters for potential bodies, after last week’s discovery on the show of Elizabeth Ann Ferrell’s corpse.
Whiskey Bay was known to be a favorite place chosen by Lee to dump his victims during his 11-year killing spree which saw him murder at least seven female victims from 1992 to 2003.
Lee was at first overlooked by law enforcement when they were trying to find the perpetrator of the repeated deaths, because they thought the murderer was white.
He was later linked to the seven women’s deaths by DNA evidence, but police thought there may also have been additional victims.
There was a rumor that Lee would play recordings of crying babies to lure his victims to their doors.
Two of the seven women’s bodies were found at the boat launch at Whiskey Bay, which is around 30 miles to the west of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He says: “People were scared. The sense of calmness wasn’t there any more. You didn’t just have a simple homicide — you had the omega of murderers.”
Lee died of heart disease at the age of 47 in January 2016 while on death row awaiting execution.
