Graphic TLC Dr. Pimple Popper teaser bursts onto screens

Dr. Lee has a can-do attitude and helps people shed their embarrassing cysts

TLC busted out their summer sizzle tape for Dr. Sandra Lee, star of Dr. Pimple Popper who specializes in lancing, draining, squeezing, popping and coaxing out the hardened and not-so-hard sebum, pus and lord knows what else is lurking inside a plugged hair follicle.

Rich people get things handled fast, but Dr. Lee is enthusiastic, empathetic and genuinely loves helping the less fortunate [read: underinsured or those who cannot afford doctor care] people afflicted with cysts and skin issues so debilitating it affects their quality of life.

Dr. Lee says of her work: “Dr. Pimple Popper provides a complete window into my world as a busy dermatologist. You understand how devastating their condition really is, how it affects their everyday life…afterward, we see how we have really transformed their lives!”

Indeed. Devastating and isolating for many of these people whose cysts are so big they cannot work or function normally.

Common epidermoid cysts are a much more complex skin issue than a blackhead or whitehead. They become bigger over time and are walled off inside a sac that must be surgically removed or the sac fills up again with dead wet skin cells and sebum that not only smells but must usually be manually extracted as the doctor has to completely cut the sac from the attached issue-not easy to do in a way that does not leave a deep impression or scar in the skin.

More complex cysts include pilar and sebaceous, plus there are pilonidal, ovarian and breast cysts too.

Dr. Pimple Popper airs (the premiere is July 11) Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
