On this week’s Gold Rush, the Oregon trail that Todd Hoffman has taken to the High Bar Mine has created some real worries for him and his crew — but is there light at the end of the tunnel?
In an exclusive new clip, Todd Hoffman is worried. He says: “To be honest with ya, I’m trying to put a good face on it but I’m freaked out. I’m really freaked out.”
One month into the mining season, Todd’s massive gamble moving to Oregon isn’t panning out. To hit his 5,000 ounce, $6million in gold, the Hoffman crew should have already mined close to 1,000 ounces, but they’ve got just 50…worth $60,000
Kevin Hiatt says: “My wife’s back home taking care of four kids. I’ve got to be able to show her that this is paying off. Right now it’s not.”
Andy Spinks is disappointed in the High Bar mine. He says: “You know we all have families, we are all pretty disappointed in the High Bar and what it’s turned out. I didn’t come to Oregon to wash gravel and not get gold, we got to get gold.”
Last week, Hoffman’s washplant expert Freddy Dodge found a gold-rich streak which Dave and the crew have been mining for the last five days.
To his delight, Logan Pierce finds two big nuggets in the mats and is super stoked, holding them up for the camera. He says: “That’s a half ounce nugget I just found in this mat! This could turn out to be a better of a cleanup.”
Back at the office, Todd seems lighter in his overall mood as he oversees Jack Hoffman’s gold weighing, and the news sets them off to find the guys and tell them the tally. What’s the news? You will have to tune in!
