On this week’s Gold Rush on Discovery, Klondike innovator Adrian Hollis has invented a “Frankenstein” machine which Parker Schnabel and his foreman Rick go to investigate.
What they find leaves them practically speechless.
Parker tells Rick en route to Hollis’s camp: “I met this guy who mines down here on Dominion. He’s custom-built and designed these conveyors that he uses.”
Rick is curious, and asks: “To move all his dirt?”
Parker says: “Yeah, everything, mud, overburden, gravel, all of it. He [Hollis] just runs a three-man operation.”
Rick is impressed as they roll up to Hollis’s camp and see a behemoth machine in action. He says: “Wow. What the hell, that’s one Frankenstein machine right there!”
The guys get out of their truck and meet Hollis, the inventor behind the mighty machine.
Hollis greets them and says: “This is what we do, this is how we move dirt here…this thing puts out about 400, 500 yards an hour, cheap way to move dirt.”
Rick is just gobsmacked, and asks: “Nothing but this conveyor?”
Hollis tells him that’s all they use. Watch the clip from tonight’s Gold Rush episode below to see an animation showing exactly how this beast sorts and moves the dirt to make it easier to find the gold.
