Deadliest Catch is back next week for an all-new season starting April 11, this week in anticipation the captains and crew discuss the dramatic last season and look forward to the next one.

Northwestern Captain Sig Hansen and his crew meet up to eat some crab and talk over just how hard it is to land that catch. He talks about how hard the work his and how real both the danger and the comradery is.

However, as he tucks into some tasty crab he also points out just how high quality the winter catch is. He’s obviously getting a little philosophical in his old age and aks the crew whether they are born to be fishermen or become fishermen.

Most of them seem to think it is an urge they get very young and also that it’s an important part of their family traditions.

They are also acutely aware how important the sustainability of the crab fishing is, making sure they leave something for the next generation.

Sig also talks about how his heart attack last season has changed the way he goes about things. He reckons he’s really going to pay attention to his sleep patterns, try not to lose his temper so much and try to keep the stress levels down.

Power out
Power outage at sea cannot be good for your stress levels!

Though with huge waves hitting the Northwestern side on and losing power during rough weather, we’d bet his stress levels are always pretty high.

The new season starts next week and Deadliest Catch airs on Tuesdays at 9:00 PM on Discovery.
